FG, Taraba sign MoU on Tourism Village development

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Taraba State Government for the development of a Tourism Village aimed at boosting tourism and economic growth in the state.

The agreement was formalised on Monday at Harmony Hotel, marking what officials described as a major step towards unlocking Taraba’s tourism potential.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said the initiative aligns with the economic diversification drive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Musawa said tourism remained a critical non-kinetic approach to addressing insecurity, noting that investment in tourism infrastructure could foster peace, unity and sustainable economic development.

She commended Tinubu for supporting initiatives designed to strengthen partnerships between the Federal Government and states, adding that such collaborations would expand employment opportunities and attract investors to the sector.

Officials at the event said the Tourism Village project is expected to create jobs, promote cultural heritage and enhance the state’s visibility as a destination for domestic and international visitors.

They added that the Taraba State Government remained committed to working in line with the Renewed Hope agenda to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
