Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has presented 13 brand-new Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to the newly inaugurated chairpersons of the state’s Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to facilitate the take-off of the councils and enhance grassroots service delivery.
The presentation took place shortly after the swearing-in ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Gombe, following the June 27 local government elections conducted by the Gombe State Independent Electoral Commission.
Speaking during the presentation, the governor said the gesture was part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring that the newly created LCDAs commence operations without logistical constraints.
Yahaya described the establishment of the LCDAs as a deliberate and strategic reform aimed at bringing government closer to the people, deepening grassroots administration, improving access to public services and accelerating development across communities in the state.
He said the operational vehicles would enhance the mobility of the chairpersons, enabling them to effectively coordinate development activities, monitor projects and respond promptly to the needs of their respective communities.
The governor urged the chairpersons to justify the confidence reposed in them by embracing transparency, accountability and inclusive leadership in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the LCDAs with the resources and institutional backing required to deliver meaningful development and improve the welfare of residents across Gombe State.
The 13 LCDA chairpersons were inaugurated after emerging victorious in the June 27 local government elections conducted by GOSIEC.
