Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has emphasized the importance of upholding core principles of journalism, including truth, accuracy, and fairness.
Speaking at the 2024 News Summit in Jalingo on Friday, Kefas stressed the need for innovation and adaptation in the rapidly changing media landscape.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, noted that the summit’s theme, “News Production in a Transitional Media Landscape,” is timely, given the era’s rapid technological advancements, shifting audience expectations, and evolving journalistic practices.
Kefas observed that the media landscape has changed significantly over the past decade, with digital platforms redefining news gathering, reporting, and consumption. He emphasized the responsibility of news producers to ensure truthful, balanced, and reflective narratives.
Earlier, the Director General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Mohammed Bulama, pledged to reposition the organization through improved content, cutting-edge technology, and training.
The summit brought together leaders from FRCN, Voice of Nigeria (VON), broadcasters, and other stakeholders to discuss the future of news production in Nigeria.
