Social Media User Arrested For Abusive Language Against Adamawa Govt Officials

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old social media user, Aliyu Musa, also known as Imam Mahdi, for allegedly using abusive language against public office holders in the state.

According to a statement released by the Command on Monday, Musa, a resident of Kwacham Ward, Mubi South Local Government Area, was apprehended after a disturbing video circulating on social media came to their attention.

The video, posted on TikTok with the handle @faty5076, contained abusive language against some Adamawa stakeholders, which the Police deemed as immoral and unjust.

The Police stated that Musa’s assertions, which were made without evidence, aimed to tarnish the image of the personalities mentioned and could lead to a breakdown of law and order. The Command condemned the act in the strongest terms and vowed to deal with anyone who violates the laws of the land.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the abusive posts were intended to demean the reputation of prominent personalities and leaders in the state.

The Police emphasized the need for social media users to be cautious of their posts to avoid violating laws regulating social media use.
