Suspected Motorcycle Thief Lynched By Angry Mob In Bauchi

Tragedy struck in Magama-Gumau town of Toro Local Government Area, Bauchi State, as a suspected motorcycle snatcher fell victim to an enraged mob.

The incident unfolded on Sunday when an unidentified young man was spotted lingering near a Mosque. Eyewitnesses recounted that the man allegedly stole a motorcycle parked in the vicinity, triggering the owner to raise an alarm.

Despite his attempt to escape after abandoning the stolen motorcycle, the suspect was apprehended by the furious mob. Reports indicate that he faced brutal assault with planks and other objects until the injuries proved fatal.

Upon the police’s arrival, the mob had dispersed, leaving behind the lifeless body of the alleged thief at the scene. Subsequently, his remains were transferred to the morgue at Toro General Hospital.

Efforts to reach out to the Bauchi State Police Command for comments on the incident were unsuccessful, with SP Ahmed Wakili, the Command’s spokesperson, unresponsive to messages and calls at the time of reporting.
