    Adamawa Executive Council Approves Over N23bn for Key Infrastructure Projects

    The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved contracts worth over N23 billion for critical infrastructure projects across the state, including roads, street lighting, and consultancy services.

    The approvals were granted during the council’s meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Yola, and presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

    Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Garba Pella, said the projects cut across several local government areas and were aimed at promoting infrastructure development and urban renewal.

    According to him, the council approved the construction, rehabilitation, and expansion of Abdullahi Bashir Waziri Street, Bekaji Road, Popule Street and its links, as well as GGSS Yola internal roads, all located in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, at the cost of N13 billion.

    He added that the council also approved additional works at the ongoing Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Mall Project, covering internal road networks, drainage systems, landscaping, and the installation of solar-powered streetlights, valued at N5.6 billion.

    Furthermore, Dr. Pella disclosed that the council approved Phase Two of the Adamawa State International Sports Complex Project, to be executed in five lots, at the cost of N3.6 billion, noting that the first phase of the project was progressing smoothly.

    In another development, the council approved the procurement and installation of solar-powered streetlights along Galadima Aminu Way, Gimba Dual Carriageway, Bekaji Dual Carriageway, Mubi Road, and the A.A. Lawan Flyover, totaling N1.3 billion.

    The commissioner also announced the approval of consultancy services for the design and post-design of perimeter fences and gatehouses for the palaces of newly created chiefdoms, as well as the Adamawa Traditional Rulers Secretariat Complex, valued at N212 million.

    Similarly, consultancy services for the design and post-design of office facilities for the Adamawa State Urban and Regional Planning Development Authority and the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board were approved at a cost of N133 million.

    Dr. Pella reiterated that the approvals reflect the Fintiri administration’s commitment to driving infrastructural transformation and sustainable urban development across Adamawa State.

    Adamawa Govt Approves ₦17.1bn for Mega Senior Science Secondary Schools

    The Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved ₦17.1 billion for the construction of three mega senior science secondary schools in Lamurde, Gulak, and Hong LGAs.

    Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Jamesmawuri Iliya, disclosed this on Wednesday at a press briefing after the council meeting.

    The council also approved other projects, including the expansion of Galadima Aminu Way and construction of an underpass at Fire Service Roundabout in Yola at ₦13.8 billion, and the construction of a 7.5km road with bridges from Mararraba Garta to Kamale in Michika LGA at ₦4.3 billion.

    Other approved projects include a 14km Sukur road in Madagali LGA at ₦2.5 billion, electricity supply for ₦854 million, and portable water supply for ₦832 million for 5,000 residents of Fintiri 1000 housing units in Yola South LGA.

    Additionally, ₦630 million was approved as a counterpart fund for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to access ₦1.2 billion for critical projects.

    Adamawa SEC Approves N16 Billion Road Project In Girei LGA

    The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved more than N16 billion to build a 17-kilometer road network in Girei LGA that connects the Bajabure Federal Housing Estate.

    In a statement released by the the Governor’s media aide, Muhammad B. Tukur Gcfr , the approval was granted by the council on Wednesday at its second meeting of 2024, which was chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House Council Chamber.

    Speaking to reporters soon after the meeting, State Commissioner of Information and Strategy Mrs Neido Geoffrey said that Messrs. Triacta Nigeria Ltd. had been given the contract to build the roads in the Bababure housing development, with a one-year completion period.

    The speaker asserted that the council’s resolution fulfilled the current administration’s pledge to urbanize the state capital and its surrounding local government regions.

    Commissioner of Works and Energy Development Alh. Adamu Atiku contributed, stating that the contractors would mobilize to the site within a month after followingthe proper procedures. Geoffrey also revealed that the development of a road network at the One Thousand Housing Estate in Malkohi was allowed by the council for a variation worth over seventy-four million naira.

    While providing clarification on the council’s choices, Commissioner of Education Dr. Umar Garba Pella stated that the permissions are intended to lessen the hardship of commuters and residents.

    As a means of meeting up with international best practices, the commissioner of works and energy development Adamu Atiku said the council intends to construct a mini flyover and make an intersection at both ends of the super highway from FGGC Yola to AA Lawan junction cause of the high risk

    Adamawa SEC Approves Fertilizer Supply And Furniture Contracts For 2024

    The Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC), in its first meeting of 2024, approved the contract for supplying fertilizer for the 2024 farming season.

    The Council also approved variations for contracts involving furniture supply in junior and senior secondary public schools across the state and road construction in the state capital.

    Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri presided over the meeting, which was held on Wednesday at the Council Chambers in Government House, Yola.

    Briefing newsmen after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Neido Kofolto Geoffrey, disclosed that the EXCO deliberated on and approved the sum of N456,318,000 for the supply of fertilizer for the 2024 farming season.

    She stated that Governor Fintiri’s administration, recognizing the passion of Adamawa people for farming, approved the fertilizer supply to boost farming activities.

    The Commissioner also stated that the EXCO received a memo for a variation from the Ministry of Education for the supply of furniture to junior and senior secondary schools in Adamawa State.

    Due to the hike in material prices in the market, the EXCO ratified and approved the variation, increasing the supply cost from the initial approved sum of N1,742,774,000 to N1,892,000,778.

    According to Hon. Kofolto, the Adamawa Executive Council also approved a variation of N23,777,058.50, bringing the revised cost to N224,079,672 for the construction of road networks in Yola abattoir by MSATB Barak Service Limited. She disclosed that the work is nearing 85% completion.

    The EXCO also approved the upgrade of some markets and the implementation of erosion flood controls in some local markets in Adamawa State. The contract for the construction and upgrade of these markets and flood control measures rose from N902,636,006.70 to N1,504,393,343.60.
