PDP Loses Stronghold in Yobe as Yarin Fika Defects to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost one of its key strongholds in Yobe State following the defection of Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, a prominent party chieftain, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yarin Fika announced his defection on Thursday during a ceremony in Damaturu, citing Governor Mai Mala Buni’s developmental strides as his motivation for joining the ruling party.

He pledged to contribute his quota toward consolidating the governor’s achievements and strengthening the APC’s presence in the state.

“All my supporters in Zone B have transferred their loyalty to the APC,” he said, declaring that “PDP and any other form of opposition in Yobe State is dead.”

Receiving the new entrant, the APC Chairman in Yobe State, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described Yarin Fika’s defection as a “major gain” for the ruling party.

“We value this defection and will ensure that you and your supporters enjoy equal opportunities as other members of the APC,” Gadaka said.

In his remarks, Governor Buni welcomed Yarin Fika and his supporters, assuring them of full integration into the party structure.

He said the defection would further strengthen the APC’s dominance in Potiskum, Zone B, and the state in general.

According to Buni, Yarin Fika’s decision to join the party reflects the confidence of the people in the APC-led administration and its commitment to the development of Yobe State.
