The Adamawa State Police Command has announced that it has reopened the investigation into the 2023 acid attack case that left three victims, including Miss Eve Usman Kwala, with severe injuries.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police said the decision followed renewed public interest, emotional appeals from victims, and concerns raised by citizens over the unresolved case.
The Command noted that although the incident was reported when it occurred, no suspect was apprehended during the initial investigation. It said the renewed probe is aimed at unmasking the perpetrators and ensuring justice is served.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Investigation to immediately review the case file and commence a fresh, thorough inquiry.
The directives include a reassessment of all previous statements, gathering new human and material evidence, tracing individuals directly or indirectly linked to the incident, and ensuring the arrest and diligent prosecution of those responsible.
The Command urged members of the public with relevant information to come forward, assuring that all details provided would be treated confidentially.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to upholding justice, protecting lives, and ensuring that serious criminal acts are not overlooked.
