Bauchi Gov. Presents N887bn ‘Budget of Hope and Consultation’ for 2026

Gov. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Thursday presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill, valued at over N887 billion, to the State House of Assembly during a ceremony held at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Bauchi.

Tagged the “Budget of Hope and Consultation,” the proposal targets inclusive governance, long-term development planning and strategic investment in key sectors of the state’s economy.

Presenting the budget, Mohammed said the 2026 fiscal plan was designed to consolidate ongoing reforms while responding to new economic challenges at both state and national levels.

He said the proposal followed extensive consultations with communities, stakeholders and policy experts to ensure that government priorities align with the real needs and aspirations of citizens.

According to him, the budget provides a roadmap for sustainable growth, social inclusion and the development of resilient infrastructure.

He highlighted major allocations to education, healthcare, agriculture, rural roads, water supply and youth empowerment—areas he described as critical to improving livelihoods across Bauchi State.

Mohammed reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing ongoing projects as well as initiating new ones aimed at boosting productivity, creating jobs and strengthening the state’s local economies.

Lawmakers at the presentation commended the governor for what they described as a clear and well-structured fiscal proposal, pledging to ensure a timely and thorough legislative review.
