Adamawa Govt Commiserates With Lamurde LGA as State Security Council Meets

The Adamawa State Government has extended its condolences to the families affected by the recent crisis in Lamurde Local Government Area, assuring residents that a full investigation has been ordered to uncover both the immediate and remote causes of the unrest.

Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, made this known on Thursday shortly after a meeting of the State Security Council held in her office, with all service commanders in attendance.

Farauta called on the warring factions to sheath their swords and allow peace to prevail in the interest of the state. She commended security agencies for their swift response in containing the crisis, noting that normalcy is gradually returning to the affected communities.

She disclosed that adequate security reinforcements have been deployed to restore law and order, while the government has fully settled the medical bills of all victims currently receiving treatment.

The Deputy Governor reiterated the state’s commitment to continuous engagement with citizens on peacebuilding initiatives aimed at fostering development and meaningful coexistence.

Farauta also appealed to both conventional and non-conventional media practitioners to ensure factual and responsible reporting, warning that misleading information could further aggravate tensions.

It would be recalled that the crisis involved clashes between the Chobo and Bachama communities of Lamurde LGA, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property.
