The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of three new full-time academic programmes at the Federal University, Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated December 8, 2025, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the university. The letter, signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, followed a resource verification visit by NUC panels of experts to assess the availability of human and material resources required for the programmes.
The newly approved programmes include:
1. Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.DS)
2. Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.N.Sc.)
3. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.OT)
According to the NUC, the programmes will run strictly on full-time mode, as the approval does not extend to part-time delivery. The Commission emphasized that before any part-time undergraduate programme could commence, the university must submit a fresh request for consideration.
The NUC also directed that the programmes must bear only their approved titles and nomenclature, adding that any changes would require further approval by the Commission. It urged the university to ensure the provision of adequate staffing, equipment, and other resources necessary for the effective take-off and sustainability of the programmes.
