FG Approves 30% Pay Rise for Non-Academic Staff

The Federal Government has approved a 30 per cent increase in the consolidated salary structure for non-academic staff in federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.

The approval was conveyed in a letter issued by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to provosts of Federal Colleges of Education across the country.

The letter, dated April 14, 2026, and signed by Mrs S.B. Shittu, Deputy Director, Budget, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, stated that the increment also applies to the consolidated non-teaching tools allowance for eligible staff.

According to the commission, the decision followed the recent approval by the Federal Government to increase the consolidated salary structure of non-teaching staff in federal tertiary institutions.

“On behalf of the Executive Secretary, Dr. Angela Agala, I write to respectfully bring to your attention the recent approval by the Federal Government, the thirty percent (30%) increase in the consolidated salary structure of non-teaching staff in Federal universities, polytechnics and colleges of education,” the letter stated.

It added that the approval, conveyed by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, was attached to the correspondence for necessary action.

The commission urged provosts and bursars of Federal Colleges of Education to take note of the development and ensure compliance with the directive.
