Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers in Adamawa, Recover Firearm

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in Song Local Government Area of the state, in a coordinated operation involving police operatives and local hunters.

The arrest followed a raid conducted on Jan. 24, 2026, on a suspected criminal hideout at a remote location in Balma Village, Song LGA, after the police acted on credible intelligence.

The suspects, identified as Shaibu Mohammadu, 30, and Ja’o Bawa, 31, were apprehended during the operation.

Police recovered one locally fabricated revolver rifle, two mobile phones, charms and other incriminating items from the suspects, which are being treated as exhibits.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnapping activities within Song and its surrounding communities.

The police said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, commended the collaboration between the police and members of the community, describing it as instrumental to the success recorded.

He reassured residents of the command’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements and urged the public to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies.

The police also assured that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police.
