Fintiri Commissions Fufore Cottage Hospital, Assures Upgrade

The Adamawa State Government has announced plans to upgrade the newly commissioned Fufore Cottage Hospital into a full-fledged General Hospital to enhance access to quality healthcare services for residents of Fufore Local Government Area and neighbouring communities.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri disclosed this on Saturday while commissioning the hospital in Fufore, as part of his administration’s drive to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state.

The governor, who was accompanied by his Deputy, Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, the Senator representing Adamawa Central, Aminu Iya Abbas, and other top government officials, expressed satisfaction with the standard and quality of the facility.

He described the project as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to prioritising both primary and tertiary healthcare, noting that accessible and functional health facilities remained critical to the wellbeing of the people.

According to him, the planned upgrade would enable the hospital to provide secondary healthcare services, not only to residents of Fufore but also to communities along the Nigeria–Cameroon border.

“This facility is part of our broader effort to ensure that no community is left behind in access to quality healthcare. The next step is to upgrade it to a General Hospital to meet the growing health needs of the people,” Fintiri said.

The governor also inspected various sections of the hospital during a guided tour conducted by the Principal Medical Officer, Dr. Dibal Denis, to assess the level of readiness and available medical infrastructure.

After the commissioning ceremony, Fintiri paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Fufore, Alhaji Sani Ahmadu Ribadu, who commended the governor for what he described as remarkable developmental strides in the state, particularly in Fufore Local Government Area.

The emir lauded the administration’s focus on healthcare and other critical sectors, noting that the hospital would significantly improve the standard of living of the people.
