
Para-athletes from Adamawa State have commended Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his continued support and presence at the 3rd National Para Sports Festival held at the Abuja National Stadium.
The Adamawa State Sports Council led a delegation of 110 athletes and officials to the national event, where the state is competing in seven sporting categories.
The Acting Director of the Sports Council, Madam Salamatu Alimi, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to promoting inclusive sports participation.
Alimi noted that the athletes had shown remarkable strength, resilience and determination, reflecting expanding opportunities available to persons with disabilities in Adamawa.
She said the government’s sustained investment in para sports demonstrated its resolve to promote youth empowerment, social inclusion and equal participation in sporting activities.
Members of the Adamawa contingent expressed appreciation to the state government during the match-past at the festival’s opening ceremony, showcasing their talents and readiness to excel despite challenges.
The athletes described the support from the Fintiri administration as a significant step toward strengthening inclusivity and ensuring that para sports receive adequate attention.
They added that continued support from the government would create lasting opportunities and encourage wider participation of persons with disabilities in sports across the state.
