Borno South APC stakeholders raise N40m for Ndume’s 2027 senatorial bid

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Borno South Senatorial District have raised over ₦40 million to purchase nomination and expression of interest forms for Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders, drawn from the nine local government areas of Borno South, also unanimously endorsed Ndume for another term in the National Assembly of Nigeria.

Led by party stalwart, Adamu Yamta, the delegation on Sunday visited the residence of the All Progressives Congress Borno State Chapter Chairman, Bello Ayuba, in Maiduguri to formally notify him of their decision and present the funds raised for the forms.

Addressing the gathering, Yamta commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for what he described as selfless and people-oriented leadership across the state.

In his response, Ayuba expressed surprise at the turnout and described the gathering as a demonstration of unity among stakeholders from across the district.

“I thought this meeting was for just a few people, but I am impressed by the large turnout and the quality of stakeholders from all the local governments in Borno South. Senator Ndume belongs to all of us,” he said.

Ayuba also praised Governor Zulum’s leadership style, noting that it promotes inclusiveness across all segments of the state. He cited his own emergence as party chairman despite coming from a smaller local government as an example of the governor’s inclusive approach.

Other stakeholders, including Abdullahi Danjato and Musa Dogo, described the endorsement as unanimous, stating that Ndume had demonstrated commitment and effective representation over the years.

They noted that the visit to the party chairman was to seek his blessings and formally inform the party leadership of the collective decision taken by stakeholders in the zone.

Those present at the meeting included the Borno South APC Zonal Leader, the State Assistant Secretary of the party, all nine local government party chairmen from the district, youth leaders, party executives, and members of the business community.

Observers said the development reflected a strong show of unity and consensus within the APC in Borno South, signaling early political alignment as preparations for the 2027 general elections gradually intensify.
