Tangale APC aspirants back Attari for direct primary

Five aspirants from Tangale land in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe state, seeking the House of Representatives ticket under the All Progressives Congress have declared support for Hon. Alfred John Attari to participate in the party’s direct primary election.
The aspirants made their position known in a joint statement issued after the conclusion of the party’s consensus process.
They said although none of them emerged as the consensus candidate, they appreciated the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for allowing democratic participation during the process.
The group stated that the governor remained open to constitutional options available under the Electoral Act 2026, including direct primaries.
According to the statement, the decision for Attari to participate in the direct primary followed consultations among the aspirants and critical stakeholders over concerns that Billiri Local Government Area was not reflected in the consensus arrangement.
The aspirants said they fully supported Attari’s democratic right to contest and pledged to stand with him in unity and good faith.
They also congratulated the party’s gubernatorial flag bearer, Jamilu Ishiaku Gwamna, and other candidates who emerged through the process.
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and pledged to work collectively for the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
They further stressed their commitment to justice, fairness, equity and internal democracy, while calling on supporters, particularly youths in Tangale land and Billiri Local Government Area, to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
The statement was jointly signed by Hon. Victor Mela Danzaria, Hon. Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, Hon. Ahmed Isa Nayire, Hon. Tony Jonah Nakale and Hon. Alfred John Attari.
