The ruling All Progressives Congress in Yobe State has elected Baba Malam Wali as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections following the party’s primary election.

In his acceptance speech after emerging victorious in the primary, Wali expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and thanked party leaders, stakeholders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

He particularly appreciated the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, describing him as an exceptional leader with a great vision for Yobe State.

Wali also commended Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, for his commitment and support throughout the process.

He further praised the APC State Chairman, Mohammed Gadaka, members of the state executive committee, party elders and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful and transparent primary election.

The APC candidate thanked former governorship aspirants who stepped down to support his ambition, describing them as patriotic statesmen committed to the unity and progress of the state.

He equally acknowledged the role played by youths, women groups, security agencies and the media in ensuring a successful and violence-free exercise across the state.

Wali called on all party members and contestants to close ranks and work together for the victory of the APC in the 2027 general elections.

“The contest for the primary election is now over. We should unite and work together to confront the general election with a united front,” he said.

He pledged to sustain the policies and programmes of the Buni administration, promising inclusive governance and improved service delivery.

Wali said his experiences under the administrations of Gaidam and Buni would guide him in advancing development in the state if elected governor.

He also urged party members to work towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, alongside other APC candidates at all levels.

“Together we can make it, and together, the victory is ours,” he declared.
