Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Saturday, unveiled the Gajiram Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre and conducted inspections of three ongoing projects.
Zulum arrived in Gajiram on Friday and spent the night coordinating humanitarian and developmental activities.
The newly inaugurated ICT centre is equipped with internet facilities and can accommodate 300 trainees in three categories: out-of-school children, adults, and local government staff.
Governor Zulum was conducted round the facility by the Executive Secretary of Borno State Information and Communication Development Agency, Engr Mohammed Kabir Wanori.
Speaking after innaugurating the facility, Zulum noted that Borno State Government would liaise with the National Board for Technical Education to ensure proper programme certification, where each graduate would be issued a certificate of completion.
“We will liaise with the National Board for Technical Education to certify graduates from all our ICT centres in Borno State,” Zulum said.
Following the inauguration of the ICT centre, Governor Zulum inspected three projects, including the remodelled General Hospital in Gajiram and Mega High Islamic Colleges in both Gajiram and Gajiganna communities, each designed to contain 48 classroom, offices and other facilities.
Expressing his satisfaction with the quality of ongoing work, Zulum commended the contractors for complying with the project specifications.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by the member of the House of Representatives, Engineer Bukar Talba, member of the House of Assembly representing Nganzai, Sheikh Ali Gajiram, the Chairman Nganzai local government area, Engr Muhammad Badu Mallam Gana, Commissioners, Special advisers and other top government officials.
