Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday announced the appointment of five new permanent secretaries to fill existing vacancies in the state’s civil service system. The appointees, who were successful in a qualifying examination conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), are:
– Mohammed Tukur, Fufore
– Hassan Modibbo, Ganye
– Mrs. Singana Dada, Gombi
– Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim, Mubi South
– Ladi Baba Hamza, Mayobelwa
Governor Fintiri stated that the examination was a policy thrust of his administration to strengthen service delivery in the civil service system.
He noted that this was the fifth in a series of examinations conducted to promote qualified persons to the position of permanent secretary.
The Governor emphasized that the examination was the surest way to promote effectiveness in the system and curb elements of nepotism and other pressures on appointments to this exalted position.
He also commended the State Head of Civil Service, Pharmacist Shehu Isa Ardo, for providing a level playing ground with no interference, which made the process seamless.
Governor Fintiri urged civil servants to take computer knowledge seriously, as lack of it has been a factor behind most failures recorded in previous exams. The State Head of Civil Service explained that the supplementary qualifying examination was conducted because none of the candidates from the local government areas with vacancies made it in the last sitting.
Candidates from six local government areas sat for the examination.
