Adamawa Government Dismisses Reports Of Communal Clash In Lamurde

The Office of the Special Adviser on Peace and Security to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has dismissed reports of a violent tribal or communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area.

In a statement on Monday, Special Adviser Ahmad Lawan described the reports as “misleading” and “false alarms”. He explained that the incident in question involved an allegation of witchcraft made by a woman, resulting in the killing of six people she accused.

Lawan emphasized that the incident was not a communal clash between the Waja and Lunguda communities, as reported on social media.

He commended the prompt response of the police, led by Commissioner CP Morris Dankwambo, who have made arrests and commenced investigations.

The Special Adviser assured that those found guilty will be prosecuted, and urged citizens to go about their legitimate activities. He praised the efforts of all security agencies in the state for maintaining law and order.

Lawan also cautioned the media to always verify facts before publishing, as required by their professional ethics.
