Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umar Fintiri’s free medical and surgical outreach in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area, has successfully provided essential health services to over 2,500 individuals. Sahel reports.
The free medical and surgical outreach conducted in Gulak, Madagali Local Government Area, Adamawa State has successfully provided essential health services to over 2,500 individuals.
The three-day outreach aligned with the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s vision of making quality healthcare accessible and affordable for Adamawa State residents.
The outreach included 119 surgeries, with hernioraphy being the most common. Other major surgeries conducted were total abdominal hysterectomy, myomectomy, and caesarian section.
Some patients had been living with swelling for over 10 years before accessing these services.
Additionally, over 2,000 general medical consultations were conducted, along with 25 X-ray examinations and 68 ultrasound scans.
More than 1,000 lab tests were also performed, with patients found to be HIV-positive connected with ADSACA for treatment.
Critical health concerns identified during the outreach included peptic ulcer disease, malaria, and pelvic inflammatory diseases.
The outreach demonstrated the state government’s commitment to addressing the health needs of vulnerable populations.
The State Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Yunusa Mohammed, emphasized that the outreach is part of their annual program to provide care to vulnerable populations, especially those neglected due to ongoing conflict and natural disasters.
“This is our way of giving back to the community, ensuring that those most in need receive essential medical services,” Dr. Mohammed said.
Madagali Council Chairman, Simon Shashi and the District Head of Gulak, Bello Ijadi, praised the effort, marking it as a historic first for the region.
They thanked Governor Fintiri and the medical team for their dedication to improving the health and well-being of the people in Madagali.
