Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, on Monday, paid an unscheduled visit to the Abubakar Umar Secretariat, urging civil servants to demonstrate greater dedication and commitment to duty.
The governor inspected various offices and expressed dissatisfaction with the poor attendance of senior officials, including commissioners and permanent secretaries.
He warned that negligence and laxity would no longer be condoned in the state’s civil service.
During the visit, the governor joined workers to observe the Asr prayer at the secretariat mosque. He emphasized the importance of punctuality, justice, and fairness in the discharge of duties, while calling for improved productivity across all sectors.
Mohammed also inspected the ongoing renovation of the secretariat auditorium, lamenting the slow pace of work despite significant financial commitments by the state government.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, he reiterated his warning that government officials who fail to report to work on time would face disciplinary actions.
“This administration will no longer tolerate a lack of dedication and accountability. All officials must take their responsibilities seriously,” he said.
