The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has expressed satisfaction with Yobe State Government’s readiness to partner on an agricultural development project.
Mr. Javed Khan, Senior Agriculture Specialist at IsDB, made this known during a courtesy visit to Gov. Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu on Tuesday.
“The level of preparedness and commitment demonstrated by the Yobe State Government is truly impressive and encouraging,” Khan said.
Khan, who led an assessment team to the state, said the visit allowed them to review project documents and inspect preparations on the ground.
“We were initially hesitant to visit Yobe due to perceived insecurity, but we insisted. Now, we are impressed with the peace, security, and government’s commitment to the project.
“We are working to secure project approval within the next three months, and the cooperation between our team and the state government suggests we will achieve this target,” Khan said.
Responding, Gov. Buni commended the IsDB for ignoring negative reports about the state.
“I am glad you did not listen to those who misrepresent Yobe. You are here now and can see the reality.
“We are ready for this partnership to use agriculture to drive our state’s economy and support our people,” Buni said.
He emphasized that agriculture was vital to the state’s post-insurgency recovery, ensuring food security and economic growth.
“All 17 local government areas are now accessible, and our people are actively engaged in farming. This project will further empower them,” the governor said.
Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to making the partnership a success.
