
The 11th edition of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation (SABMF) Annual Memorial Lecture is scheduled to take place on Monday, February 24, in Bauchi State.
According to a statement by the foundation’s Director-General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who also serves as the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, will preside over the event.
Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, is expected to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.
The annual lecture, which commemorates the legacy of Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto and former Premier of the defunct Northern Region, rotates among the 19 Northern states. This year’s edition is being organized in collaboration with the Bauchi State Government.
Themed “Nature’s Bounty: Turning Northern Nigeria’s Natural Resources into Sustainable Prosperity,” the event will highlight opportunities for harnessing the region’s resources for economic growth.
The programme will also feature scholarship awards to indigent students from Bauchi State in tertiary institutions, a memorial lecture, award presentations to distinguished Nigerians, and a medical outreach initiative.
