Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have foiled a bandit attack in Jen village, located in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed this in a post via his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday night.
Makama said the troops responded swiftly to a distress call at about 3:30 p.m., which led to their immediate deployment to the area.
“On sighting the advancing troops, the suspected bandits fled the scene. The soldiers pursued and crossed a nearby river to clear the suspected avenue of approach used by the criminals,” he said.
He said the prompt intervention of the troops prevented what could have been a deadly attack, adding that no casualties or property loss was recorded.
Makama further stated that the situation in the area remained calm, noting that troops had intensified patrols and maintained a strong presence to deter further attacks.
Operation Whirl Stroke is a special military operation aimed at combating armed banditry and insurgency across parts of Nigeria’s North Central and North East regions.
