The Taraba State Police Command has commenced a manhunt for a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, over the alleged abduction of a two-year-old boy, Ivan Okosun, his employer’s son.
The boy’s mother, Mrs Ujuwan Okosun, reported the incident to the police on Sunday, claiming that the suspect fled with her son and mobile phone while on duty at their residence.
Security sources told NAN that Kini later used the stolen phone to contact the boy’s father, demanding a ransom of N5 million for the child’s release.
Following the report, police operatives visited the scene and arrested one Aruna Dauda, said to have stood as guarantor for the suspect during his employment.
“The command has intensified efforts to track down the fleeing suspect and ensure the safe return of the child. Investigation is ongoing,” a police source said.
The police have called on members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
