SSANU, NASU Fixes Final Offer, Confirms Monday Meeting with FG

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has fixed 40 per cent as its final position in ongoing wage negotiations with the Federal Government, ahead of a crucial meeting scheduled for Monday.
The SSANU President disclosed this on Saturday during an interview on Arise News, where he confirmed that the Federal Government had reached out to the union to reconvene talks.
He said the government recently proposed a 30 per cent salary increase, but the union rejected the offer, insisting it falls short of expectations.
According to him, SSANU had initially demanded a 45 per cent increment but reduced it to 40 per cent as a compromise, stressing that the figure now represents the union’s final offer.
“Our demand was 45 per cent, but we have stepped it down to 40 per cent. That is where we are,” he said.
He added that the nature of duties performed by non-teaching staff justifies the demand, noting that some members, particularly those in clinics and security units, work round-the-clock.
The SSANU leader expressed hope that Monday’s meeting would produce a more favourable outcome, as both parties continue efforts to resolve the dispute.
