Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has appreciated the call for a robust partnership with American University of Nigeria Yola.
The governor said partnering with AUN in the area of skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development for qualified students in Adamawa state will help build a strong bond of cohesion and foster common relationship.
The governor gave the remark on Tuesday when he received in his office the President of the AUN Dr DeWayne Freizer and the management team from the institution.
Dr Freizer after appreciating the governor for taking steps in the right direction to quell insecurity informed that many Americans are now willing to visit Adamawa State due to the improved security situation in the state.
The AUN President said apart from a partnership in other areas the AUN is considering another partnership in the area of scholarship given the fact that Adamawa State has a large number of intelligent young people who cannot afford school.
He solicited for cooperation and collaboration with the state government in order to achieve the said objective. He emphasized that to avoid the issue of abscondment aka Japa, only third year students will be taken to the states in the form of exchange programs and to be returned to complete their programme.
The AUN President also said their is the need to also support the economy of the state and described Adamawa State as a thriving economy that has the capability of expanding to greater heights given the bubbling nature of the state created as a result of purposeful governance under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Highlight of the event was a presentation of gifts to the governor by the AUN President.
