The Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) has taken proactive measures to address a suspected case of Acute Watery Diarrhea (AWD) in Jada Local Government Area.
In response to the situation, the agency’s leadership, represented by Reno’s B. Peter and Dr. Jacob James Vasumu, convened a meeting with stakeholders, health workers, and religious leaders on Friday to discuss containment strategies and preventive measures.
The Executive Secretary of Jada Primary Health Care Authority, Helen Shamaki, lauded the swift intervention by ADSPHCDA, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in preventing future outbreaks. Similarly, Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir urged traditional and religious leaders to support hygiene awareness efforts and encourage the public to report suspected cases to the nearest Primary Health Care Center (PHCC).
To combat the spread of AWD, the Director of Disease Control and Immunization equipped stakeholders with essential strategies and key health messages on hygiene, sanitation, and best practices for community education. The agency also presented commodities and drugs to the local government to mitigate the disease’s impact.
ADSPHCDA has remained committed to improving healthcare across the state. In 2023, the agency launched the 2nd National Immunization-Plus Days, targeting over one million children across 21 local government areas to strengthen disease prevention efforts.
Health authorities continue to urge residents to practice good hygiene and report any suspected cases promptly to safeguard public health.
