Fintiri Leads Response as 29 Killed in Adamawa Community Attack

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has confirmed that no fewer than 29 people were killed in a deadly attack on Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area, describing the incident as tragic and unacceptable.

The governor disclosed the casualty figure during an on-the-spot assessment visit to the affected community, where he sympathised with bereaved families and assured residents of the government’s commitment to strengthening security measures in the area.

During his visit, Fintiri reiterated his administration’s resolve to work closely with security agencies to prevent a recurrence of such attacks and restore normalcy to the community.

Residents said the atmosphere in Guyaku remains tense following the attack, with grief and fear visible among villagers, particularly women, children and the elderly. Many families were reported to have fled their homes amid fears of further violence.

A community leader, Aggrey Ali, stated that the attackers operated for several hours, resulting in multiple casualties and extensive destruction.

He explained that several buildings, including places of worship, were set ablaze, while valuable property such as motorcycles was destroyed during the incident.

Authorities have assured residents that security presence in the area will be reinforced, while efforts are ongoing to provide relief and support to affected families.
